How to Keep Wedding Invitation Pieces Together with Ribbon, Paper Clips, and Wax Seals

Your wedding invitation suite is more than just a collection of cards—it's a unique and personalized piece of art that sets the tone for your entire event. But how do you keep all those pieces together in a way that's both elegant and practical? Let’s explore three creative methods for securing your invitation suite: ribbon, paper clips, and wax seals. For my clients, I highly recommend securing your invitation suite to ensure guests receive a top-notch presentation and a sense of organization while reviewing your wedding details. Discover how these simple yet stylish accents can add a touch of sophistication to your wedding stationery while being cohesive with your wedding theme and vision.

RIBBON:

There's something undeniably romantic about a ribbon-tied invitation suite. Whether you opt for a classic satin ribbon, a rustic twine, or a luxurious velvet ribbon, the addition of this simple accent instantly elevates your invitations to new heights of elegance. My number one ribbon choice for clients is hand-dyed silk ribbons. I love the timeless frayed edges, the easiness of tying the ribbon, and the numerous color options to coincide with your wedding colors. Did you know there are several ways to wrap and tie a ribbon?! You can wrap ribbon around your invitations and tie it in a knot or bow for a timeless and enchanting finishing touch. Pictured below I used an ivory silk ribbon and tied a simple knot to keep the inclosure cards tucked nicely on the back.

PAPPER CLIPS:

For a more modern and minimalist look, consider using stylish paper clips to keep your invitation suite together. You can choose sleek metallic clips for a touch of sophistication, or opt for whimsical shapes and designs to add an unanticipated twist. Not only are paper clips easy to use and cost-effective, but they also add a contemporary edge to your wedding stationery that's sure to impress. Check out the example below of modern gold metallic paper clips I used for a client’s nautical-theme wedding. This paper clip was lightweight and not bulky for mailing. While choosing paper clips, keep in mind the paper clip weight and size can increase the cost of mailing your invitation suite; therefore, opt for lightweight and slim paper clips.

WAX SEALS:

There's nothing quite as luxurious as a wax seal adorning your wedding invitations. Wax seals are truly my favorite way to secure invitation suites. Whether you choose a classic monogram, a romantic flower, or a custom design that reflects your wedding theme and style, wax seals add a touch of traditional charm and sophistication to your invitation suite. Wax seals also make a stunning first impression that guests will love forever. View my wax seal projects here that I have completed for my clients. As an additional bonus, you can use a combination of wax seals and ribbon to elevate your wedding stationery appearance while ensuring all enclosure cards are secured tightly with the invitation card. I use ribbon and wax seals together by wrapping the ribbon around the invitation suite and adding the wax seal where I would typically tie the ribbon. Trust me, you can not go wrong with this combination.

When it comes to securing your invitation suite, the possibilities are endless. Whether you opt for the classic romance of silk ribbon, the modern simplicity of paper clips, or the timeless elegance of wax seals, each method adds a unique charm and personalization to your wedding stationery. Whichever option you choose, you can rest assured that your invitation suite will be a personalized reflection of your style and will set the perfect tone for your special day.
